I’ve got an absolute cracker of a wedding to share with you today and it’s at one of my favourite local venues, Wootton Park, near Stratford Upon Avon, where I'm a recommended supplier. The combination of beautiful early May weather, fantastic locations, a laid-back fun loving couple and a wealth of fabulous vintage inspired details made it a joy to photograph from start to finish. Everything was beautifully styled using the striking orange and blue colour scheme – a nod to Rachel’s Dutch heritage.
The day started in Inkberrow in Worcestershire, where Rachel got ready at her childhood home before walking to the church with her dad and sister/chief bridesmaid. I went over to Inkberrow the week before the wedding to check out the church and was struck by what a beautiful countryside location it is and the amazing sense of tranquility.
Andy arrived in a vintage VW Camper Van, bright orange to match the colour scheme, parking up outside The Old Bull, of Archers fame, for a quick pint before the ceremony at St Peter’s Church.
Rachel’s hair and make up was expertly done by the very lovely Sarah Russell of SGR Vintage Hair and Make Up and I absolutely loved her 50s style custom made dress with pockets – what a great idea! Rachel’s mum made the bridesmaids’ dresses from some gorgeous Liberty print fabric, as well as matching pocket squares for the guys and bow ties for the page boys and mini-best man.
Highlights have to be the rather unreliable orange camper van – watch out for it being pushed up the hill outside the church – and the outdoor speeches which ended with Andy wearing a curly orange wig, one lime green leg-warmer, a football scarf and holding an LP and a light sabre! Fortunately the camper van started after the ceremony and Rachel was able to drive them off in style, but they didn’t manage to take it on honeymoon as originally planned. I also loved Rachel’s bouquet of sweet peas – which smelt heavenly – and the cow parsley in and around the church.
The day ended with pizza and sparklers – it doesn’t get much better than that!
I’ll be at the Wootton Park Wedding Open Day this Sunday, from 12-4, so if you’d like to have a chat and look at my sample albums, it would be great to see you. There’s more information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1537661613138298
