2012 - A Year in Review (Part 1)

After a welcome break with the family over Christmas and New year, I'm finally putting together my review of the year.  2012 was a fantastic year for Louise Holgate Photography.  I travelled up and down the country, shooting a huge variety of weddings and loved every minute of it!  I also managed to squeeze in a Masters Degree in Freelance Photography at Birmingham City University, which I passed with a distinction.  As a key part of my style is telling the story of each wedding day, from the bride (and groom) preparations, through to the dancing in the evening, I decided to split it into sections.  So here goes with Part One - the getting ready shots.

Not everyone wants these, but as a documentary wedding photographer, it's one of my favourite parts of the day.  I love capturing the excitement and anticipation, the transformation of the bride and bridesmaids, the shoes, the jewellery, personal details around the house which are often so important to the couple and their families, the moment mum/dad/bridesmaids see the bride in her dress for the first time, the list goes on!  It also allows everyone to relax into the process of having their photo taken and they often forget I'm even there.   Here are some of my favourite shots from some of my favourite weddings of 2012.

And not forgetting the guys!

Thank you to the couples who booked me, and the photographers I've worked with: Kari Bellamy, Ruth Goalby, Anna Clarke and especially to Jeff Land who I've worked with regularly over the last two years.

Part 2 will be coming soon.  In the meantime, if you're looking for a wedding photographer with a relaxed, natural, documentary approach who can capture the emotions and details of your day, please get in touch.  2013 is shaping up to be an even more exciting year and I have a limited number of dates left.  I've a special offer running for weddings in 2013 booked before the end of January.  Contact me for details.
