On Sunday I’ll be back at one of my favourite venues, Fazeley Studios in Birmingham City Centre, for their wedding fair. I always love working there as it’s a great place for weddings, whatever the time of year, as you have the use of several different rooms, all of which are stunning, as well as the courtyard, plus the streets around the venue provide some fantastic urban backdrops for your portraits. The staff are brilliant and it’s perfect for couples looking for a venue with a difference where you can do your own thing in a relaxed way.
Louise and Dave got married there last summer and it was a day filled with laughter, tears and whisky! They’re such a lovely couple and as you’ll see from the pictures, it was a beautifully styled wedding, full of hand-made details.
I first met Louise when she was buying her seventies vintage dress, which she named Florence (after Florence and the Machine) due to its floaty ethereal quality. In a nice twist of fate, it was originally made in Italy where Louise and Dave got engaged. It was absolutely stunning and suited Louise perfectly. She was such a radiant bride, and Dave looked pretty dapper in his blue suit and bow-tie! The bridesmaids’ unusual dresses came from ASOS and Louise added the lace trimmings herself.
Louise’s family are Scottish so the male members of the bridal party wore kilts hired from Kiltpin in Scotland and the kids looked really cute in mini-kilts, Scotland rugby tops and matching Converse. You’ll have to look at the pictures to see if it’s true what they say about Scotsmen and their kilts…
There was hilarity during the ceremony as Louise and Dave’s young son Toby spotted the large wooden elephant which stands behind the registrars’ table and had great fun pointing and making elephant noises during one of the readings!
I’ll leave you to enjoy the pictures, but if you’re looking for a photographer to capture your wedding at Fazeley Studios, come along for a chat on Sunday, or get in touch!
